“You Don’t Know What You Don’t Know”, was one of the greatest things that I’ve ever learned from my professor at the University of Waterloo. His name was David Goodwin and taught me the fundamentals of web, design, and more importantly user experience. He explained that the web is not difficult but at the same it’s a field that constantly needs exploring. The simplest design principle may seem like common sense but the question that you need to ask yourself is, “Would you have known this principle had you not been told/taught?”
In essence, he explains that we don’t know what we don’t know. In my opinion, might explain the human curiosity and our constant need to explore new things…we want to know what we don’t know even if it winds up being some we don’t understand. This was a short thought I felt had to be shared. What was the most insightful thing you’ve ever heard?
