There are a ton of articles that I’m sure that talk about the internet and what it has become and yada yada yada. That is great and all but what does it mean for the average consumer? How can a regular person take advantage of what the web has to offer?
Since Apple began making apps and probably even before that. They have been making the wealth of information on the web accessible to the average person. Finding answers to questions are now intuitive and sometimes even pushed to us when we least expect it.
The Internet is beginning to act like a live creature that we do not only talk to, but something that talks back to us! Like the human body, each cell plays a vital role in the operation of the larger whole. The Web is no different and we are the cells that make up the larger mass. What we contribute, including this blog, adds to the knowledge of the Web.
My imagination makes me wonder how long it will take for this massive information structure to take a physical presense thats more animalistic. Not in the wild sense but in the sense that it will be more like interacting with another person. We already ask questions on the web and get answers “from someone” else in the world. But from the perspective of the questioner, its like asking an invisible being…no I am not making any reference to a God or anything of the sort. My point is that the process of Q&A is humanizing the internet and it will continue to grow to the point where we may feel like we are asking a magic ball anything we want and we’ll be able get a rational answer.
I would guess that what is missing and will always be missing is the sense of emotion amd compassion that comes with asking a real live person a question face-to-face.
